Fixed Partial Denture (Bridge)
Fixed dental bridges are another great option for patients who are missing teeth. Bridges replace one or more missing teeth by using surrounding teeth, called abutments, to support the missing tooth, called a pontic. The abutment teeth will be evaluated to prove they are healthy and able to withstand chewing forces. This evaluation will determine the success of a bridge. These teeth are shaped and reduced to make room for the abutment crowns, and also select shade color that best match existing teeth. An impression is then made and sent to a laboratory. The laboratory uses these impressions to fabricate the underlying metal substructure of the bridge. Final step would be to fit the bridge and ensure a perfect fit to be permanently cemented.
